What is Supplementations? Supplementation is the standard process of requesting missing items from your insurance estimate. Insurance companies can forget to include some of the pieces and parts that go into construction and following state-specific building requirements and manufacturer requirements to comply with warranty specifications.
All insurance companies include a statement on their estimates like this one from USAA:
"What if my contractor’s estimate is different from USAA's estimate?
"Show the USAA estimate to your contractor. If your contractor's estimate is higher, please contact USAA prior to starting the repairs to your home as the additional charges may not be covered."
Our HAAG certified team of supplementers are experts in building code and materials. They will be responsible to recover any line items that have been omitted from your original estimate from your carrier.
Common items for supplementation may include:
- Drip edge
- Ice & water shield
- Flashings
- Correct measurements of materials
- Updated pricing to reflect current supply and demand
- Discontinues products
Hail events may also allow for supplementing items like:
- Siding
- Windows
- AC Unit Comb
- Gutters
- Personal property
"What if insurance doesn't approve of supplemented items?
Do not worry! you will not be financially responsible for any items denied by insurance unless it has been previously discussed at you contract signing, such as decking, skylights, or any other materials/situations that are excluded from your policy."
